How much does rodent control cost in San Antonio?

Most rodent control treatments start at $450-$650 for the initial service, depending on the size of your home and severity of the infestation. This includes inspection, treatment, and setting up bait stations or traps. Follow-up visits are typically free as we follow up until they are gone (many companies charge $200 per follow up visit). We offer a 6-month guarantee on rodent work.

How long does it take to get rid of rats or mice?

For minor infestations (one or two rodents), you might see results within 1-4 weeks. Larger infestations can take 3-8 weeks to eliminate. Rodents don’t all take bait at once, and pregnant females may already have nests, so it takes time to get them all. We’ll give you a realistic timeline during the inspection.

What’s the difference between rats and mice in San Antonio?

San Antonio has two main rodents: roof rats (black rats that climb) and house mice. Roof rats are bigger (7-10 inches), prefer attics and trees, and leave larger droppings. Mice are smaller (3-4 inches), stay low to the ground, and leave rice-sized droppings. Both need professional treatment but the approach differs slightly.

Do you use poison or traps for rodent control?

We use both, depending on the situation. Bait stations with rodenticide work well for large infestations and outdoor control. Traps are better for small infestations or when you want to avoid poison. Roger will recommend the best approach based on your specific situation and preferences.

How do rodents get into homes in San Antonio?

Rodents can squeeze through openings the size of a quarter (rats) or dime (mice). Common entry points include gaps around pipes, AC lines, roof vents, foundation cracks, and gaps under doors. San Antonio’s clay soil causes foundation settling, which creates new cracks over time. Part of our service is identifying and sealing these entry points.

Will rodents come back after treatment?

Our rodent control comes with a 6-month guarantee. If rodents return within 6 months, we’ll retreat at no charge. However, if new entry points develop (foundation settling, storm damage), rodents can get back in. Sealing entry points and ongoing quarterly service provides the best long-term protection.

Are rodents dangerous or just a nuisance?

Rodents carry diseases (hantavirus, salmonella, leptospirosis) and their droppings can trigger allergies and asthma. They also chew on wiring (fire hazard) and insulation. The longer they’re in your home, the more damage they cause and the bigger the health risk. That’s why we recommend calling as soon as you see signs of rodents.

What are the signs of a rodent infestation in my San Antonio home?

Look for droppings (rice-sized for mice, larger for rats), gnaw marks on food packaging or wires, scratching sounds in walls or attic (especially at night), nests made of shredded material, and grease marks along walls where they travel. If you see one rodent during the day, there are likely many more hiding.

Can I just set traps myself or do I need professional rodent control?

You can try traps for a very minor issue (one or two mice), but most homeowners underestimate the infestation size. Rodents reproduce fast. A pair of mice can become 60 mice in 3 months. Professional treatment includes inspection to find all entry points, proper bait placement, and exclusion to prevent re-entry. DIY rarely solves it completely. As Roger says, “advice is always free.” Feel free to give us a call if you want to talk.

Why are rodents so common in San Antonio?

San Antonio’s mild winters mean rodents stay active year-round. They don’t die off in winter like they do up north. Our warm climate, abundant food sources, and older housing stock with foundation settling create perfect conditions for rodents. That’s why year-round prevention is so important here.
